Lonesome Dove Fest Launches Hunting Season

It is never lonely at the annual Lonesome Dove Fest.

The Karnes City Rotary Club hosts the annual event each September to celebrate the opening weekend of dove hunting season in the South Texas zone. Activities include a parade, barbecue cook-off and live music entertainment, with most events taking place at the Karnes County Show Barn.

The festival also features a Youth Day that offers several hundred area high school students mini-seminars in firearm safety, resource and wildlife management and general outdoor activities.
